U.S. Marines host discipline train centered on strengthening fight readiness with additive manufacturing


The U.S. Marine Corps are operating a discipline train this week centered on sustaining operations in austere environments and strengthening fight readiness with additive manufacturing (AM).

From April 28 to Might 8, the first Upkeep Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Drive (I MEF) are being supported by Phillips Company, Federal Division (Phillips Federal) and a collective of AM companions together with Phillips Additive Hybrid, EOS, Markforged, BigRep, and 3YOURMIND to create a completely built-in expeditionary manufacturing ecosystem.

The capabilities, which embody hybrid Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), EOS’s M290 and P 3 Subsequent platforms, Markforged’s X7 and BigRep’s VIIO 250 3D printers alongside 3YOURMIND’s half identification and MES capabilities, are meant to assist Marines to carry out important upkeep and restore work and drone manufacturing instantly within the discipline.

Phillips Federal’s contribution is led by Patrick Tucker, Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.), Strategic Enterprise Growth Supervisor at Phillips Federal, who beforehand served as a Regimental Commander inside I Marine Expeditionary Drive from 2018 to 2020.
